Entrepreneurship data is invaluable for researchers and scholars who seek to form and investigate hypotheses about various aspects of new ventures. To prove or disprove existing theories – and to formulate new ones – they rely on qualitative and quantitative data. Such data is compiled via interviews, surveys, field observation, etc. Clearly, a comprehensive, reliable, and relevant database can be invaluable for research in entrepreneurship. Many researchers create their own data via private surveys. However, there also exist publicly available datasets that can be used by the creative scholar. Such data can save months of effort, cover a wider variety of factors, and be well-tested by researchers in other domains.
